Big Stars. Huge Budgets. Disastrous Results.
In a tough economic climate, Hollywood still managed to waste colossal amounts of time and money in the hopes of suckering the American public. Save yourself the headache and avoid these 10 awful titles released in the last 12 months.
The Bounty Hunter
Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler star as bickering exes in the most broadly-drawn and unwatchable “romantic romp” to come along since, well, whatever movie Jennifer Aniston or Gerard Butler made last.
Jonah Hex
Clocking in at a trim 70 minutes, this DC Comics Western makes no sense whatsoever. Josh Brolin emerges from this mess relatively unscathed, but Megan Fox’s hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold has likely sent the actress careening into a Lindsay Lohan career trajectory.
Sex and the City 2
A neverending nightmare following four spoiled, whiny women halfway around the world to shop and complain about men. Even fans of the series will admit this installment sucks.
When in Rome
Four idiots in Rome fall under the spell of Kristen Bell. “Looney Tunes” style hijinks ensue, rarely a good thing in an earnest, live-action romance.
Legion
You saw the demonic Granny crawling on the ceiling in the previews for this apocalyptic thriller. Sadly, the rest of the film is a bunch of laughable dialogue, violence and religious hooey.
Leap Year
The great Amy Adams started the year taking a (hopefully hefty) paycheck for this lifeless Ireland-set romantic comedy. Luckily, she rebounded this month with an Oscar-worthy supporting turn in “The Fighter.”
Tooth Fairy
The tagline for this sloppy children’s fantasy is bad enough: “You can’t handle the tooth.” Reads more like: The Rock needs new management.
Killers
Another year, another terrible Ashton Kutcher movie. Here he teams up with Katherine Heigl (no stranger to bad movies) for a “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” rip-off about a “lovable” contract killer and his clueless wife.
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Irrelevant remake of the Wes Craven horror classic with Jackie Earle Haley fumbling the role of Freddy Krueger from Robert Englund.
The Back-Up Plan
This unfunny pregnancy comedy is the likely reason for Jennifer Lopez becoming a judge on “American Idol.” Her film career is officially as dead as her music career.
