Old Millennials Remember Movies

We look back and remember movies from 1980 through 2002 (when we started college). We kick off each episode with a chat about what we’ve seen recently, and then we dive into the featured movie. We share our memories of seeing the movie back in the day and then discuss our thoughts and reactions to re-watching it again.

Street Fighters Podcast 1994 Old Millennials

Street Fighter – OMRM – ep 34 – 1994

The Academy gave “Green Book” the Best Picture trophy this year (yuck), so in protest we watched a movie that might be the exact opposite of an awards-bait drama. It’s “Street Fighter” The Movie, a film in which Jean Claude Van Damme enters a street fighting contest and… wait, how is that NOT the plot […]

Podcast Old Millennials Remember Movies - When Harry Met Sally

When Harry Met Sally – OMRM – ep 33 – 1989

Men can’t be friends with women without thinking about sex. I mean, that’s pretty much why Tyler and I had to start dating immediately. And we’re married AND best friends now, so I sorta think Billy Crystal had it right. We go back and watch a classic Romantic Comedy, When Harry Met Sally. What did we

Burbs OMRM - 1989

The ‘Burbs – OMRM – ep 32 – 1989

There’s only one way out of a cul-de-sac. Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher might be living next to psycho murderers in “The ‘Burbs,” but the rest of the neighborhood is full of weirdos, including the brilliant Bruce Dern as a deranged vet, Corey Feldman as a laid-back dude-bro and a domestic terrorist who lets his

Favorites of 2018 – OMRM – ep 31

Fresh off the announcement of this year’s (underwhelming) Oscar nominees, the Old Millennials remember and rundown our favorite movies of 2018. Only three movies appear on both Angela and Tyler’s Top 10 lists, which means we’re talking about lots of excellent films, including the likes of “Eighth Grade,” “Game Night,” “Roma,” “Sorry to Bother You,”

Unbreakable – OMRM – ep 30 – 2000 – with Glass – 2019

Before we had 1,000 superhero movies, M. Night Shyamalan stripped the genre bare with “Unbreakable,” a thoughtful character study about an ordinary man who, well, can’t break. Bruce Willis was actually trying to act, and Samuel L. Jackson brought his A-game. Audiences and critics were, uh, Split, but in 19 years “Unbreakable” has assembled a

Mighty Ducks Old Millennials Podcast

Mighty Ducks – OMRM – ep 29 – 1992

Quack. Quack. Quack. Quack. It’s a scientific fact that Old Millennials everywhere love “The Mighty Ducks.” Consider the classic moments – The Flying V. Eggs on the ice rink. Charlie’s penalty shot. Coach Gordon Bombay’s DUI arrest? That unusual tickling scene? Okay, so Disney movies were a little different in the 90s. Does “The Mighty Ducks”

The Net Podcast- Old Millennials Remember Movies

The Net – OMRM – ep 28 – 1995

It happened to Sandy Bullock. It can happen to you. Computer technology in the 1990s was amazing… just look how fast master programmer Angela Bennett orders that disgusting anchovy-riddled pizza in the opening minutes of “The Net.” She seems to have high-speed internet back before that was a thing, so good for her. But technology

Jingle All The Way - Old Millennials Remember Movies Podcast

Jingle All The Way – ep 27 – OMRM – 1996

There are bad Christmas movies, and then there’s “Jingle All the Way,” a movie worthy of its own awful category. “Normal guy” Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a lazy dad to the future Darth Vader, and comedian Sinbad plays a deranged terrorist. Ho Ho Hilarity ensues. Their kids want rare Turbo Man action figures for Christmas… well

Home Alone cover

Home Alone – OMRM – ep 26 – 1990

Kevin McAllister is left Home Alone for Christmas, and the Old Millennials don’t think it was an accident. We know Uncle Frank is a creep, and that Kevin’s brother Buzz is headed for juvie, but let’s not forget about absentee father-of-the-year Peter McAllister (RIP John Heard) and the great Milking-of-Kevin’s-Airplane-Ticket Incident of 1990. He left Kevin there on purpose! “Home Alone” was a classic growing up, so we have a lot to discuss — Angels with Filthy Souls, Macaulay Culkin Fever, lazy Chicago cops, the John Hughes Canon, Wet Bandit logic, John Candy (RIP!) improv, deleted scenes and why the snotty pizza guy might be the MVP of the whole movie. Okay, that last one might be a stretch, but it’s Old Millennials Remember (Christmas) Movies!

Serendipity-2001

Serendipity – OMRM – ep 25 – 2001

Two selfish dreamers make a series of terrible decisions based on “signs” because “fate.” But, hey, it’s romantic! There are a couple of warm, Christmas-set scenes, an idealized version of New York City, and John Cusack pushing that classic Cusack-Charm to its absolute limit. Look, it’s a bad movie, but maybe, just maybe, the world
